TEST A IMOLA PER LA NUOVA A1GP POWERED BY FERRARI

15 giu 2008 (00:20) :
The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport car for the 2008/09 season continued its intensive testing programme this week with two days at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.

Following on from successful tests at Fiorano, the Ferrari test track in Italy, Andrea Bertolini has been back behind the wheel of the Powered by Ferrari car, putting it through its paces at Imola.
This is the first time the car has run outside the confines of Fiorano but feedback continues to be positive with the car running on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Testing will continue next week with five-days running scheduled at Guadix Circuit, a recently constructed facility in Spain. The three-kilometre track near Granada has a good mix of fast and slow corners with varying cambers and a 750-metre main straight set against the stunning back drop of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

A1GP General Manager, Technical and Operations, John Wickham: "We've completed about 900-kilometres of testing so far and everything is going relatively smoothly. The car is performing very well and the driver is happy with it; the balance is good and the tyres are working well. We haven't done as much testing as we hoped but that's partly because we were waiting on the weather at Fiorano. We ended up just running in the rain in the end but the car looked very quick in the wet! In general the car has been very reliable. We look forward to five consecutive days running next week with the tight Guadix Circuit ideal for further testing of the handling of the car. "

The official pre-season testing for all the teams will take place at Silverstone on 18 - 20 August 2008 and Mugello on 17 - 18 September 2008.

A1 TEAM FRANCE CALLS UP FRANCK MONTAGNY

04 apr 2008 (21:59) :
Franck Montagny will join A1 Team France for the last 2 events of the season: Shanghai (11th-13th April) and Brands Hatch (2nd-4th May). Despite a very full programme the Frenchman has accepted to drive the red, white and blue car and do battle for the 2007/08 title. He will follow in the footsteps of Loïc Duval and Jonathan Cochet who have defended the team’s colours since the start of the season.
With 8 rounds gone A1 Team France is in 3rd place in the overall classification 20 points behind the leader, Switzerland. It has racked up 1 victory, 7 podium placings and 12 points - scoring finishes.

30-year-old Franck Montagny raced in 7 F1 grand prix with Super Aguri in 2006. He was the Renault F1 test driver from 2003 to 2005, and then did the same job for Toyota F1 in 2007.

Franck Montagny: “When A1 Team France asked me to race in the final rounds of the season I immediately checked my programme to see if I could give them a positive reply; then I accepted without hesitation. It’s going to be a difficult job but I’m happy to be able to make my contribution. On paper anyway, winning the title is within our possibilities. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the car and find out its potential.”

Olivier Panis: “Welcome Franck! Since the start of the season we’ve repeated that the title is our objective and Franck’s arrival is a boost for the whole team. Pulling back 20 points in three races is going to be a tough challenge, but we’re determined to do our absolute best to snatch the crown!”
